Squires Field Community Centre & the King’s Award for Voluntary Service.

In the Autumn of 2023, Squires Field Community Centre was selected for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service. At the end of January 2024, the Committee and volunteers of the Community Centre participated in an audit with 2 representatives from the Cornwall Lieutenancy where our work in the community was assessed.

On Wednesday 4th September, a selection of our committee attended a presentation of certificates to commemorate our nomination for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service at County Hall, Truro. Squires Field Community Centre and 11 other Cornish voluntary organisations were presented with a certificate to record our nomination for this prestigious award. The certificates were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Col Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, who in 2016 attended the opening ceremony of Squires Field Community Centre.

Whether or not SFCC is successful in achieving the King’s Award for Voluntary Service will be revealed and announced on 14th November – the King’s birthday.

It was a privilege and an honour to be part of this event, with other like-minded nominees, and to represent Squires Field Community Centre. We await the decision in November 24.
